KAI

How it works

Three steps, and the third is the one most tools skip.

  1. Upload the documents

Invoices, receipts, statements. A photo from a phone is fine, so is a scan or a PDF — and several receipts in one frame come out as several rows.

  2. KAI reads them into a sheet

You name the columns — supplier, TPIN, date, VAT, total — and each document fills a row. The first run creates the sheet for you.

  3. Check the figures, then export

Every cell keeps the page it came from and the words it was read from, so you can hold any figure against the document before it goes to Excel or CSV.

What it handles

Not everything is a table. Some documents are prose, and those are read as prose.

  • Photographs, scans and PDFs
  • PDF, JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, HEIF and TIFF
  • 40+ languages
  • Several receipts in one frame become several rows
  • Multi-page scans are read a page at a time
  • Contracts and notices can be read as text, page by page

Why you can check it

Anything can print a table of numbers. The question is whether you can tell that they are right.

The page it came from

Every extracted value records which page of which document it was read from, so there is always somewhere to look.

The words it was read from

Alongside the page, the verbatim line from the document. Not a summary of it — the text itself, so you can hold the figure against the paper.

Your document is never rewritten

Source files are immutable. A correction is stored beside the original reading, never on top of it, and records who made it and when.

When the evidence does not fit, it says so

KAI checks that each quote can actually support the value beside it, and marks the ones that cannot rather than quietly tidying them up.

And what it does not do

  • There is no confidence score. KAI used to ask the model how sure it was and show the answer. That was removed, because a self-report is not something you can check — a model can be confidently wrong, and a high number beside a wrong figure is worse than no number. A quote you can read against the page is a better signal than a percentage.
  • It does not check the arithmetic. KAI reports what the document says. It does not verify that the VAT is 16% of the subtotal, or that the lines add to the total. Those are your checks to make, and the quotes are there so you can make them.
  • It is not a substitute for reading the important ones. It is a very fast first pass with its working shown.
